In short, if what you have fits with your stock tank it will work with our Safari tank too.įor a tank with similar features but does not require cutting, that carries 5 more gallons of fuel than stock, see the Crawler Enduro tank model (GST-2003). This tank maintains the exact same relationship to your axle as the stock tank. Sorry, NO axle move back possible with this model. This tank has the same relation to the rear axle as the stock tank and occupies the exact same space as the stock tank, so if your suspension lift & axle combination works with your stock tank, it will work with the Gen-Right Safari tank too. Then this tank will simply bolt in to replace your stock gas tank (on Jeep Wrangler LJ) for those long distance trips and keep your center of gravity low by carrying the extra fuel down low in the stock location. It is specifically designed to hold an EXTRA 11.5 gallons of fuel AND it does require removal (cutting out) of an un-necessary frame cross member to make it fit. The Crawler™ Safari Gas Tank will only fit the Jeep Unlimited LJ (2005-2006). This extra capacity tank holds 31.5 gallons of gas and allows for 1/4" more ground clearance! The whole operation was a pain in the butt, but I'm happy not fearing my tank is going to fall off every time I hit a bump. This is the NEW heavy duty extended range "Safari" tank & skid for the Jeep Unlimited. I think it was listed wrong on the website but they honored it and changed the price as they shipped it to me. They took quite awhile for me, but I think that was related to the price I payed. It's an expensive pill to swallow, but you have to swallow it. The aftermarket plates are to protect the tank, the OEM one holds it where it is supposed to be. I can tell you after doing this last year, you just need to the one that is like the OEM and hope all your bolts come out. In looking around for a few mins, it looks like it may still be the cheapest out there, not by much anymore, but still cheaper. I got mine from JEGS High Performance, and it went up over $100 not long after I got mine. You don't need to get OEM but you do need to get one that looks like it. I don't think there are any aftermarket skid plates that work. I can lift the jeep up by the gas tank now, but I wasn't what I was going for. and putting that one, and the aftermarket skid plate that I originally bought. I ended up tracking down a new tank plate for around $300.
